Medical Image Server

A new dimension in image storage

Data sets get larger and larger even as case volumes increase, newer spectral CT data sets are burdensome in terms of storage and access. Dr. Lawrence Tanenbaum of Mount-Sinai Medical Center recently added Codonics Infinity Medical Image Server to help alleviate local storage deficiencies. Many of their cases must be viewed or processed on a workstation. The finite capacity of the workstation drives is limiting, forcing deletion of cases they would rather preserve or impeding the transfer of new cases from the scanners.

“Adding a free-standing server to our imaging chain has had a very positive impact on our daily imaging challenges. The addition of a dedicated high-end imaging server to our processing workstation has helped enormously, fundamentally boosting storage capacity. We now can safely sequester deferred cases devoid of risk of inadvertent deletion to make space for new case material streaming in from the scanners. With this roadblock to image processing removed, confidence in data security is improved and efficiency is enhanced.”

Infinity Application

With the avalanche of data being generated by today’s advanced imaging systems - not all of which needs to be archived long term, more and more facilities are reducing costs by using a local DICOM storage server connected directly to the modality.

The Infinity Medical Image Server is a compact DICOM storage device that provides an exceptionally fast, safe repository for all your image data. Infinity fundamentally improves workflow by locally storing all modality data including thin slices and reconstructions for immediate access. Additionally, Infinity saves PACS storage costs by enabling selective forwarding of only the data required for long-term archive. Infinity provides optional web viewing capabilities so medical images can be accessed over the network from any PC. Whether you are large institution looking for supplemental storage or a small facility transitioning to digital imaging, Infinity is the right choice.

  • Ideal for storage of thin slice data
  • Optimized for system's supporting raw data transfers
  • Easy set up for non-technical users
  • All-in-one design for easy placement in radiology environments
  • DICOM 3.0 for full compatibility with PACS, workstations and modalities
  • High-speed data transfers from 25 MB/second (DICOM-store, C model) up to 50MB/second (DICOM-store, LX model)
  • Remote network-based image viewing
  • RAID5 and a powerful Oracle® database for safe, reliable data storage
  • Storage configurations from 3 TBs* to 8 TBs*
  • Remote network-based image viewing from a web browser**
  • Compatible with existing DICOM viewers and PACS workstations
  • Expandable as your storage needs increase (C model)
  • Removable media backup for offsite disaster recovery***
  • Compatible with all Codonics products including:
